A Lesson in Majoring in the Majors, Not the Minors

Hello Tribe,

I hope this post finds you in good health, and a state of curiosity, ready to tackle yet another aspect of our endlessly fascinating lives. Today, let’s dive deep into the concept of perspective and how it can transform our approach to life’s challenges. Remember, we’re not just about surviving this game called life—we’re here to win it.

Often, we find ourselves caught up in the trivialities of the day-to-day, the minor setbacks that seem to loom large at the moment but, in reality, count for very little in the grand scheme of things. We fret over a missed workout, a botched meal prep, or a less-than-perfect business pitch. But let’s pause and ask ourselves: are we majoring in minors?

Life, in its infinite wisdom, is a series of ebbs and flows, positives and negatives, triumphs and failures. It’s a holistic journey, this “big picture” we’re part of. When we focus on this larger perspective, it’s easier to see these minor setbacks for what they are: small fluctuations in an otherwise magnificent life graph.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating for complacency or indifference towards our smaller tasks or problems. Far from it. I am, however, urging a shift in perspective. Treat these minor setbacks as learning opportunities, not catastrophes. Examine them, learn from them, and let them go.

Let’s talk about change— the only constant in our rapidly evolving world. Whether it’s a new technology that upends our workflow, a sudden shift in the market, or a pandemic that changes life as we know it, change is inevitable.

It’s natural to feel disoriented or upset when faced with change. But let’s flip the script. Let’s not let changes upset us. Instead, let’s embrace them, adapt, and evolve. Because, at the end of the day, isn’t that what life is all about?

Being flexible and adaptable doesn’t mean losing our essence. It’s about growing and expanding our horizons, about becoming better versions of ourselves. It’s about leveraging change as a catapult to launch us into new territories of personal and professional growth.

Remember, fellow tribe members, life isn’t about avoiding the storms. It’s about learning to dance in the rain. It’s about majoring in the majors and taking the minors in stride. It’s about flexibility. It’s about adaptability. It’s about embracing change.

So, the next time you’re faced with a minor setback or a major change, take a deep breath and remind yourself: that you’re built to handle this. You’re built to adapt. You’re built to thrive.

Stay strong, stay adaptable, and remember, we’re in this together.

Until next time,

Your friend Eric 🙂
